(Apr. 27, 2010)…Local artist Katrina J. Murray opens “Liquid Energy Responds to the Moment, a one-woman art exhibit, at the Indianapolis Artsgarden on Apr. 30. The free exhibit through May 28 showcases Murray’s abstract, mixed-media technique onto the backs of deep wooden boxes.

Murray grew up in the Brown County artist community and built her early career in graphic arts, serving as art director at Resort Condominiums International and the National Retail Hardware Association. Since 2005, she has devoted herself to perfecting her abstract techniques. “I allow liquid emotion and energy to spread across the surface of birch boxes and canvases,” Murray says. “My pour paintings are responses to moments experienced, dreams or a lingering thought.”
