In this exhibit, The Language of Flowers, I looked to the Victorian garden for inspiration. The language of flowers, also called floriography, from a time when proper etiquette discouraged open and flagrant displays but allowed for secretive dialog. In my garden, I used this reference from history to create commentary on contemporary life. I used my signature materials, ceramic sculptures and mixed media, with obvious and hidden meaning.
Please come to the show to see the garden of earthly delights I have created.
Image: Rue and Petunia. The flower on the left is Rue which means Regret, on the right Petunia which means Anger.
And if you have met Katrina and Tim (pictured) you'll know they are excercising their creative couple muscles in this depiction of Katrins's sculpture to be on display at Eddignton gallery in her show The Language of Flowers.
